Live Report: Good Morning America; Crazy Fan
My mother as my guest, I attended the Good Morning America show yesterday featuring Randy Travis as the musical guest. When we arrived outside, Randy was wearing a baseball cap and a T-shirt while rehearsing with the band.
My mother and I, along with four others, were allowed in first and closest to the stage for the show. We were fortunate to see 'Digging Up Bones' being played live as the bumper before going to commercial. We were so close to the stage that when the guitarist picked up his guitar, I had to literally lean back to avoid being poked in the eye.
Randy then proceeded with 'Dig Two Graves', 'Forever and Ever Amen', and then an Internet-exclusive performance of 'Everything I Own (Has Got a Dent).' All three songs were performed with such power and emotion that it was purely tangible. The audience coordinator then came over to us, and told us to be relaxed and 'chill' with the band after it went off the air, and we may have the opportunity to take pictures with Randy and potentially get a few autographs. We were incredibly excited.
Then it all came crashing down. A woman named 'Peg' (you probably saw her on TV with the black cowboy hat if you watched the show) literally had the nerve to jump up onto the stage as Randy was putting his guitar down after the final song. She handed her camera to the guitarist and threw her arm around Randy and took a picture with him. Then she asked the guitarist to take another. Peg's friend then ran up on the stage and started pestering Randy for a picture. Soon enough, inevitably, the ABC crew saw these two on the stage and became irritated. What right did anyone have to jump onto the stage and ambush Randy anyway? The audience coordinator told us we all had to leave and directed us toward the exit, while they took Randy out a different way. What a shame.
The performance was amazing, and my mother and I enjoyed it. However, it did place a damper on the day by not even obtaining a picture or autograph because of the ridiculous actions of an adult woman who was acting out of line. Every one could have had a little meet and greet if Peg didn't snap, run onto the stage, and upset ABC security.

It's a shame you missed out
It's a shame you missed out on the meet and greet. I watched (and taped) it on TV (I'm still getting over it being aired here in Australia :) ) and I saw Peg, and I think I saw you (or at least one of the signs), I'll have to go back and watch it again.
At least you did better than us watching it on the TV!!!

I feel for you!
I can't imagine someone being so thoughtless and undignified, to do something like that. But I have seen it at his concerts too. Randy is the most down to earth artist you will ever meet. Who has always been very gracious with his time, when his schedule allows him to be. I don't understand how some people can be so inconsiderate, not to mention down right embarrassing. I'm embarrassed just reading about it. I can only imagine what those of the show thought as well as the other fans there.
Hopefully there will be a next time for you Anthony.
Not the first Time
Anthony, my understanding is that this is not the first time this person has pulled something like this. I have word that she did the same thing at the Penn's Peak concert in PA. It's a shame one or two have to ruin it for everyone.
Glad you had a good time though anyway in spite of all of this.

Sorry Anthony, some people just don't care that they make fools of themselves and ruin everything for everyone else nor do they consider how Randy may feel about the whole situation. Any way here's to PEG.

Anthony I was standing right next to you and I agree 100% she was way out of line.

I did see the woman named peg on gma but missed the ambush. Randy is always polite and greets his fans after concerts and signs autographs I have several. It bothers me to see some one else ruin this for other people. I saw other people butting in line infront of some disabled people at his last concert in our city and my husband and I helped them to the edge of the stage to get their autogrphs and I later saw that group get to go backstage to meet Randy. I felt a little jealous that they got to spend time with him but glad to see that they were able to meet him as they soo deserved it.

Anthony i am so sorry for what happened to you, but you know all Randy fans are not nice as long as they get what they want to heck with everyone else. Was hoping you would get pictures and comments to share with us. Better luck next time.
Crazy Lady
I missed the Today Show this morning, but thanks to Linda putting up the link, I saw the entire interview, also did catch Late Night with David Letterman,GMA, Regis and Kelly, so got to see "The Man" perform 4 days in a row. I saw the lady in the black cowboy hat, but didn't see when she jumped up on stage. Sorry, this happened and ruined it for all of those that were able to be there to see Randy live. It seems there is always some nut that looses it. They don't have the good sense to act like an adult and let the others enjoy "the moment". Sorry this had to happen, it sounds like this might be a pattern with her. :-(

That is true, Pat. Four days of Randy and then as I posted, for those who get GAC, they are finally airing the CMA Close-up show with Randy tomorrow on GAC. This was the one done with Lorianne Crook at the Ryman during CMA Fest in June.
One can never get enough Randy.

I am going to have GAC on all day so I won't miss the CMA Close-up. I programed in the top 20 count down, but will have to look for Randy tomorrow also. Any chance I get, I am not going to miss him. If you know what time it airs Linda, could you let us know? Thanks a bunch for mentioning it.
